CHAPTER THIRTY SIX

NERISSA

N ow don’t get me wrong, I could absolutely tell my hair was getting darker and the golden tint of my skin was losing itself.

However, I had hoped he would save me and help me. He had to. It was in my fate to rule over the people of Lani.

The smell of burning wood caught my attention as I watched Anakin flatten out the log.

I continue finding sticks, unaware of the time we have right now. I get small, big, wide, thin sticks. Anything I could possibly find right now, hoping this was going to work.

I bring back the sticks and he takes them and wraps vine over them, cutting it with his teeth.

I cringe.

I knew that hurt.

He weaved the sticks together with the vine. “I highly suggest you keep your legs shut, stop staring, and go get those leaves over there.” He scolded me.

Keep my legs shut? What did that even mean? However, I followed his barking orders and dropped them at his feet.

He takes the smaller sticks and wraps the leaves stem over it and then arches it. He used more vine to make a fort over the boat. It would shield us from rain.

Smart.

The only smart thing he has done in a very long time.

“Help me push it.”

“Are you seriously testing my strength right now?” I ask looking at him. “God you fallen’s are absolutely ridiculous.”

I then get in the back and he gets in the front as we push in into the ocean. We hopped in on each end of the cylinder-shaped boat.

We continue at glaring one another before I take a breath. “Thank you for helping me with the challenges. If it wasn’t for you Anakin, I probably would be dead.”

He looked unfazed. “Stop talking.”

Mhy natural pout takes place and I nod before playing with a ti leaf.

I felt so alone right now and I was losing the energy that filled me with saneness.

I could feel it draining. No sun. No positivity. I could highly recognize I was losing myself more than anyone else knew and unfortunately, till I got back home, I would lose it.

I would lose all of it.
